Those looking to buy the Android-powered Galaxy Camera now have an option to forego the 3G/4G connectivity of the “always connected” camera and save some cash, as Samsung has announced the device’s Wi-Fi-only variant.

Everything else remains the same as the 3G/4G-enabled variant, including the 16.3 megapixel camera with a 1/2.3” BSI CMOS sensor capable of up to 21x optical zoom, multiple Smart Modes for better photographs, or the 4.8? HD Super Clear LCD display on the back. It’s still running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor along with 1GB of RAM.

Other specs include 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD cards (up to 64GB), 1080p video recording, Bluetooth, HDMI, microUSB connectivity, and a 1,650 mAh battery, all of which make for a high-end package underneath a dedicated camera.

Being the only Android-powered camera around that is worthy of a purchase, the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Camera should be a great option for those not too fazed by the lack of cellular connectivity. There’s no mention of the launch dates or the pricing yet, but expect those details to be ousted soon enough.
