Sony is going in guns blazing this year with their lineup of Android smartphones it seems – soon after the launch of the Xperia Z and the rumors of the Xperia SP making the rounds, details of an Xperia phone with model number C670X have leaked as well.
According to Xperia Blog’s sources, the Xperia C670X is expected to flaunt a 4.8-inch display on the front, with a 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution like the Xperia Z (C660X). Powering the device will be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with four cores clocked at 1.8GHz and Adreno 320 graphics, along with 2GB RAM.
It is also expected to sport a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera on the back, 32GB of built-in storage, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. All these specs make the C670X seem like a slightly upgraded successor to the Xperia Z, at least when you look at the chipset and Android version being used, both being just one notch above what the Xperia Z comes with.
As for the image you see above, apparently Sony uses the same image in the setup guide for the Xperia Z, so it is probably a placeholder Sony is fond of using. Xperia Blog speculates that it might actually be the C670X’s image that Sony may have used for the Xperia Z, but that seems like too big a giveaway from the company to be possible.
The Xperia C670X is expected to be launched this summer, but we’ll take all the info with a pinch of salt for now. Releasing a top-end device like this just a few months after the Xperia Z would disappoint buyers of the latter, something Sony won’t want to do. Well, in an ideal world at least.
