Here we go again folks, the latest batch of rumours and leaked info regarding the Galaxy S4 is in – according to Sammobile’s sources, the Galaxy S4 will sport an AMOLED screen with a new “green PHOLED” material and also come with floating touch technology.
The display apparently uses PHOLED – short for phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode – which works on the basis that organic materials give off their own light when an electric current is applied. Furthermore, Samsung has incorporated some green-yellow colour combination that results in 25% more efficiency, which should provide better battery life along with whatever advantages the PHOLED display will provide.
Also, the Galaxy S4's display might have floating touch technology, which basically allows you to hover your finger above the display without touching it, in order to perform various actions. Samsung already uses this tech in their S Pen – for example, Samsung’s Air View feature allows one to hover the S Pen over a particular album to get a preview of all pictures inside that album – and now it looks like Samsung may be extending floating touch functionality to work without a stylus as well.
Some previously leaked specs were also confirmed by the source to Sammobile – the Galaxy S4 will sport a 13-megapixel camera with a new Samsung Orb feature (for 360 degree panorama photos similar to Photo Sphere found on Nexus devices), octa-core Exynos Octa processor, 2GB RAM, and Android 4.2 with a new version of TouchWiz Nature UX.
There’s less than a week left to go before Samsung takes the wraps off its much-anticipated flagship smartphone, so whether all of these rumoured technologies and specs are part of the package will be made clear pretty soon.
